Analogue Write up-
I open my piece with 5 seconds of my analogue sound and nothing else.
To create this sound I did not use the LFO as I was wanted to create a static sound, not an oscillating one.
I also only used vco-2 because I wanted to only manipulate one sound wave as opposed to two. I choose vco-2 as it allows more variety for pitch and at the time I wasn’t sure what range I wanted. I could have used vco-1 to create the sound I made however as I had my sound on range 10, vco-2 allowed me to be more precise with my range. I also had fine tune on 0.
I also had my evo mod on 0 as well, again trying to obtain a more simple sound.
I kept the HPF at its lowest point so it would have minimal effect.
I moved VCF about 6 notches higher however as it created a more ringing sound. With the res 3 notches high as well, the sound obtained more pop to it.
I did move the level for ENV-2 ten notches high however so I could have more control manipulating the sound for the rest of the track, with the attack at 0 I was able to strike any key instantly. With Decay at 6 and Sustain at 4 the sound then peaked somewhat early before ending quickly after release with a release of 2.
Aside from the first 5 seconds of the track I used arpeggio to help create two riffs with the same sound.
Digital Write Up-
For my digital recording I used a Rode SAE-1M microphone to record 4 power chords on an acoustic guitar. The chords were played off of the 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th frets on the E string. Each chord was strum once and allowed to ring out.
For my looping I allowed the 7th, 9th, and 12th chords to have a 4 second loop so that the entire sound would ring however for the 5th fret chord, I shortened the loop so there was more continues strumming.
Whilst key mapping I made an error so that the chords were organized in a backwards order. This meant that instead of progressing upwards in frequency (from left to right) it was far more sporadic and random. This negatively effected how my sounds came out and could have been fixed by re-doing the mapping however I ran out of time in the studio and was unable to do so. There for the three keys I hit to create my sound at the 14 second mark do not co-inside with the notes played, being C, E and C above.
